Abigail Winters
My name is Abigail Winters and I am a Scientific Illustrator with a Batchelor of Arts degree from Arcadia University. Making artwork with anatomical and biological purposes, focusing on the natural scientific world is my specialty.
I have professional experience with scientific illustration through various opportunities. I am very proud to have completed a long term project for the Physical Therapy department at Arcadia University. I created a series of 25 images in cooperation with two other colleagues for the heads of the department as clients. During this year-long process, I was able to collaborate with the professors to ensure accuracy, as well as applying new art techniques specifically in digital media. This processes additionally concluded with a university held exhibition. I have also been fortunate enough to be able to provide the biology department at Arcadia, with illustrations, specifically including the spiny dogfish, to be used to assist students' dissection in comparative anatomy and physiology class.
I am currently employed at a Target in Pennsylvania as a Specialty Sales Style Team Lead. I focus on visual merchandising by setting new products and directing my team daily, to ensure necessary tasks are completed. Although this jobs is not one directly within my desired field, I am fortunate enough to be able to utilize my creativity and artistic skills for the overall improvement of the aesthetic of the store. In addition to that I have learned many teamwork and leadership skills from this manager position.
My current goal is to continue to work independently to accumulate experience as well as portfolio artwork in order to ultimately work on a team of artists and scientists. I intend to complete larger-scale projects that will have an impact people around the world educating them about science and nature which would overall inspire them to conserve, protect, and even enhance our environment.
